According to new information by anonymous sources close to Android Authority, LG is planning to release the second generation of the curved G flex phablet at CES this January.
When the first generation G flex was released in October 2013 it was met with mixed reviews by critics, who characterized the device as a proof-of-concept R&D prototype due to its high price tag and mid range specs. There was also that really bizarre commercial with the mouth-hand make out session, in case you forgot.
Despite all of the negative feedback it looks like LG will be pressing ahead with the G Flex brand as Android Authority reports the second generation curved G Flex is expected to be released at CES Las Vegas in January 2015.
Information on hardware specs is still under wraps, but unnamed insiders claim we can expect a “major upgrade” over the first generation G Flex with a high-resolution OLED screen in a smaller form factor. Reports claim the new G flex will sport a 1080p full HD screen, but we are hoping LG won’t make the same mistake twice and will go with a more future proof 2K resolution.
LG will also fit the G Flex 2 with an improved version of the “self-healing” coating which received a lot of criticism from the verge after it was unable to recover from scratches left by a key. Previous rumors have indicated a new rubber chassis will allow for more dramatic bends and more resilience.
CES is set to kick off on January 6, 2015. Tell us what you would like to see on the G Flex 2 in the disqus thread below:
